Ingredients:
1 big cabbage
1 large onion
700 gr diced pork
400 gr tomato sauce
225 gr rice, uncooked
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon thyme
3 cloves of garlic
a few tablespoons of oil
700 ml water
Instructions:
1. In a pan over medium to low heat add 2 tablespoons oil.
2. Finely chop the onion and garlic. Add them in the pan and let them cook until the onion starts to become translucent.
3. Wash and drain the rice. Add to the pan. Mix and pour water. Let the rice cook, until it is almost completely done. Season with a little salt.
4. Meanwhile, grate the cabbage and place in a large pot (with just a little water on the bottom). Cover with a lid and let it simmer until softened. Stir every 10 minutes. Season with thyme and paprika.
5. In a separate pan, cook the diced meat in 2 tablespoons oil. Season with salt and pepper.
6. When the rice is ready, add the tomato sauce over it and mix until combined.
7. Grease a baking tray with a little oil.
8. Preheat the oven at 180 C.
9. When all 3 main "ingredients" (rice, meat, cabbage) are done cooking, start assembling the tray. You have two options, depending on the size of your tray. If you use a smaller tray you can add one layer cabbage, one layer rice, one layer meat, then again one layer cabbage. If you use a larger tray (as I used), mix all the 3 main ingredients.
10. Place the tray in the oven over medium heat about 30-40 minutes or until golden.
