Ingredients:
1 can red beans, drained and rinsed
3 garlic cloves
1 medium onion, roughly chopped
40 gr walnuts
100 gr oats
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1 tablespoon maple syrup
Oil for cooking
Assembly:
4 burger buns
2 tomatoes
100 gr goat cheese
4 slices of emmental cheese
Your favorite sauces
Instructions:
1. In a food processor or a chopper, add garlic and pulse until finely minced.
2. Add the onion and pulse again until chopped small.
3. Add the oats, walnuts, chili powder, paprika, soy sauce, white vinegar and maple syrup. Process until it resembles breadcrumbs.
4. Add half of the beans to the food processor. Pulse until mostly smooth.
5. Smash the other half of the beans with a fork just a little.
6. In a bowl, combine bean mixture with the smashed beans.
7. Set the mixture aside for 5-10 minutes so the oats absorb any excess moisture. If necessary, add a little more oats to the mixture.
8. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
9. Divide the mixture into 4 and form patties. Place them onto the prepared tray.
10. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
11. In a skillet over medium heat, add 1-2 tablespoons oil.
12. Cook patties until browned on both sides, about 5 minutes on each side.
13. When almost done, add a slice of cheese on top of each patty and let it melt.
14. Serve on buns with tomatoes, goat cheese and your favorite sauces.
