This is a Romanian dish we make each spring on 8th March.
Macinici are mostly like pasta, but sweeter.
Ingredients:
2 liters water
200 gr macinici
a pinch of salt
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
zest of half a lemon
200 gr caster sugar
200 gr ground walnuts
1-2 tablespoons cinnamon
Instructions:
1. Mix the water with sugar, salt, lemon zest and vanilla and bring it to a boil.
2. When the water boils, add the macinici.
3. Keep boiling for about 10-12 minutes. Don’t stir too much, the macinici break easily.
4. Serve hot with a mixture of ground walnuts and cinnamon.
P.S. You can make this recipe with simple pasta. Choose a small pasta (like macaroni).
